Reducing Allergies with Essential Oils with Lila Collins, RN

Let’s talk about ALLERGIES! Allergies can either be seasonal or year round, and the pesky symptoms include sneezing, itchy red/watering eyes, runny nose, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing, rashes, swollen lips or skin, and just overall feeling sick. They can be triggered by airborne allergens such as pollen, pet dancer, dust mites, and mold; or they can be from foods such as peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, etc. They occur when the body’s immune system is reacting to a particular substance as though it is harmful.

Here’s how it happens:

When allergens are breathed in, the immune system views it as danger, so it releases antibodies that attack the allergens. A chemical called histamine is released into the nose, eyes, and lungs, which is intended to attack harmful agents and remove them from the body.
